How About a C-Ranger FORUM?

Not until we have an avowed a C-Ranger prospective owner on here. At the moment, there would be little discussion on the thing because of some silly gag order.

Habitual boat buyers - how about it?
 
Pat ,I think all we gotta do is start a Ranger thread or 2, and voila , a Forum is born! After all, C-Rangerites are actually C-Brats anyway,all part of the big family here..
 
Ahem, I believe there were 2 confirmed and one prospective couple who are new Ranger owners at dinner last night (Patty, you KNOW how the roof's gonna be...and just think about all the fun you had getting the 25 just the way you wanted it -- waiting is worth it). Get out there and have some fun!
 
Yes, it is silly isn't it...but Patty was afraid you would all rag on us without mercy...whatever gave her that idea...(we should name it "Current-C," etc., etc.). The deal is, the deal isn't done. Yes, we have money down. But we need to see it with the top on and have a sea trial, which is supposed to occur in about two months. OK, I will say it, we are avowed C-Ranger PROSPECTIVE owners - good enough? :lol:

They are neat boats for sure....and I agree with others about this is the C-Brat site and all us "non-traditional" C-Dory owners can play on here too. What a great bunch of folks. It was interesting to see the plant's outlay of time, effort, energies and monies to establish a larger plant to produce the larger C-Dory boats start to pay off well ...... As I understand there was a great distribution of orders of all boats and not so much only the 22 Crusier... Another example of the plant owners and managers listening to the boat owners ..... Good Stuff for sure. 2006 should be a great year for all....and this is also the 1st year to have C-Dory boats in the Atlanta show...... I did not know they were there until reading a post from out here.... So.... all you "local" NW guys..... drag out the trailers and come see us in the SE...

No way! This just means we get to keep you around instead of surrendering you to the Nordic Tug Club a few years down the road.
 
The "Western Mariner Magazine" has the following article on the Ranger.
Originally designed by naval Architect Ray Richards and later refined and modified by Dave Livingston of Livingston Dingy fame, they are built in Kent, Washington by Fluid Motion LLC, a company owned by Dave's son John Livingston. The Ranger name is a carry-over from the popular Ranger line of sailboats built by the company for over thirty years. When sailboat production ceased in 1998, the company retooled to produce a line of 21-ft, retro-styled diesel and electric motorboats under the names of Ranger and Martini. The Martini 21 is an open, Thames River style picnic launch. The new 2006 model Ranger 21 EC (extended cab) is pictured in this article I'm quoting and is owned by Ross Somerville of Cummins, Western Canada.

Neat looking for sure, I am not too handy building things though. If I did take a crack at building one for a dinghy (can somebody explain "Stitch and Glue"?), I would eliminate the cabin. It would sure look great on a davit on the swim platform of a C-Ranger R25, wouldn't it!

Sort of what it sounds like - basically the plywood pieces are stitched together with wire (like sewing on a seam) and the parts are glued and the seams are covered with fiberglass. It's intended to be an easy way for novices to get a strong water tight bond between two pieces of wood without the need for too many fancy molds/framing to form the plywood over.

Hey the more things change the more they stay the same.

The original birch bark canoes were sewed together-- bark and ribs to slit cedar gunnels. The thread was thin wet spruce roots that were split again to make a pliable thread. An awl was used to make the stiching holes, as this rolled the edges of the hole so the thread was less likely to be cut. Then the joints in the bark were sealed with boiled spruce pitch mixed with a bit of bear fat (resin-eh)

Well, this is my take on the new tug.
I think it will be a smash hit on the Chesapeake.
An economical, quality built small, but spacious, boat, in the $100,000 range is a sure thing, i think. With C dory quality assured, i believe it will have a market...
I love my 22, and would not consider moving to the Ranger, but i know people here who are looking for a quality, seaworthy, small trawler type boat who will be attracted to this craft.

Actually, it was with the UTMOST respect that we offered that suggestion. :wink: Current-C was a name we seriously considered because of all the ways you could read it: current as in "at this time"; current as in water flow; and currency as in money!

In any case we are VERY excited to see the new tug since we have always been drawn to salty boats. It is great to know they are adding new options for those of us who want to continue to trailer but would like just a little more space someday. We are always looking at tugs, what a better place to look for one than with a company like C-Dory? Hope you'll consider giving us a ride in it some time if/when you get it in the water.

We are very happy and excited for all the new C-Ranger Brats.
