Honda serial number help

I've searched everywhere for the serial number(s) on my 1994 honda 45's. Finally found where the plate "used to be", apparently the rivets have corroded away, leaving no plates. It doesn't look like they've been removed as an act of vandalism because most of the rivet is still there, yet corroded.
Fortunately, the original owner had written the numbers down twice in the paperwork and owner's manual that came with the boat. The problem is that he has written down 3 numbers for each engine. One is the model number (BF45A MLRTA) but the other 2 sets of numbers are what he calls a "frame" number and an "engine" number. The frame numbers are both "BLAF" followed by a 7 digit number, the engine numbers are simply 7 digit numbers (that do not match the 7 digits in the frame numbers mentioned above).
I need this info for my insurance policy, so came anyone confirm that the 7 digit "engine" number is actually the serial number? I'll also stamp some plates to rivet back where the originals were located.

You might try the Honda site to see what type of number/letter formats they used for the different parts of that year. OR you could talk with your local Honda dealer.

Thanks all! I assume that the "frame number" would have been the number on the riveted plates since they were located on the brackets?

Hey snal-- I just happen to have a 1994 CD 22 as well with twin 45's on it. According to the original bill of sale, the model numbers of both engines are

BF45AMLRTA and the serial numbers are 1010845 and 1007043 respectively. Hope that helps..
