Honda Parts Online?

Chris, there are some on e-bay, otherwise, I think you'd get directed to a dealer and not many of them maintain stuff online. What kind of stuff do you need?

Chris - Thanks, it looks like the boats.net site may work out. In general I'm looking for OEM parts to perform routine maintenance, but right now I'm interested in buying the new shift arm kit that is being replaced on the current safety recall of the BF150A.

Chris,

You don't have to buy it; you're covered under the Honda warranty. I'm not at work or I'd give you the part number. It's not expensive but still, you shouldn't have to pay for it.

Thanks Les. I spoke with Honda customer service and they gave me the part number, which is 06240-ZY6-305 for anyone else that may be interested. In my case, no trailer and not near a Honda dealer, the cost and inconvenience of having it done for nothing is far greater than doing it myself. I'll happily buy it, if I can find a source.

Would that part number also work for a BF135A that is on the recall list? Does anyone know how much the part costs? I also live too far away from a honda dealer and I would like to get the part for my mechanic to put on when he services the engine.

Yes, the part is the same for the BF135.

Its suggested retail is $13.62.

You should also ask for a copy of the installation instructions.

For those of you that have these engines...

DON'T PROCRASTINATE

If the shift lever does break it's bad mojo. It's most likely to happen when shifting and since most of that happens around a dock this could be a bad thing. If you're going to use your boat before you get this changed at least make yourself think about getting to the ignition switch (or emergency lanyard) very quickly to shut the engine down if it does break.
