Honda fuel tank caution ?

Yesterday, while at the local Honda Marine picking up parts for the 40 hp Honda on our 16 Angler, Loon-a-C, I bought a three gallon Honda fuel tank for my 2-cycle kicker. When I got home, I noticed under the many Cautions on the tank, it said "Do not use fuel/oil mixture."

I have been putting fuel/oil mixtures in the red plastic fuel tanks and fuel cans since before Noah was in his boat, and never knew of any problem with a fuel/oil mix in these plastic tanks/cans.

Does anyone know why they have this caution? Is it just to cover their rears so that someone does not accidently use it on a four-stroke Honda (since it says Honda on the tank). Or maybe they think it screws up the fuel quantity indicator. Any thoughts?

I suspect that you are correct--I have never seen such a caution on any other brand--and have also owned multiple plastic fuel tanks.
 
I think its a CYA to prevent you from using 50;1 in your Honda ........Plastic is plastic is plastic.
