After the Friday Harbor venture I went to flush the motor for the first time. I inserted the brass adapter and garden hose to the flush port and could not flow any water through the engine. When I got home, I flushed the motor with the lower unit in a plastic garbage can.

Any idea why I could not pass water through the flush port? The engine was circulating cooling water fine before I loaded it on the trailer.

Now that is odd...the flush port is basically a T inside the cooling hose routed through the engine and lower unit.

Did you have the engine running while you tried to flush through the port with the hose? (You should not have it running when rinsing with this method). I know with my engines if I have low pressure it will take a while before water is coming out of the hole.

Hmmm...maybe Honda owners can chime in with some ideas. If you had internal blockage it would not work when the lower unit is dunked in the water.

No, the engine was not running. I left the watter pressure against it for awhile, but no flow out the exhaust or anywhere else. I fished a piece of wire into the tee to see if I could reach any blockage. There did not appear to be any.
