I have an honda 50 and the engine is stuck in the up position. The bleed screw is non existent, just eroded away. The motor is working but the hydrylics dont seem to be working. Could it be air bound? Is there a way to get it down so I can get the boat home to work on it? Can the t/t unit be removed with no problems? I have had the motor for several years with no problems. I just looking for an easy way out for the rest of the season. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Regardless of how you fix this you should get a new bleed screw. In fact, you may have to sacrifice the existing one to get the engine down. Find the old groove and cut a new one in the same plane for a large flat blade screwdriver. Then use an impact drive after some penetrating oil to remove the screw. I would get the new screw and O-ring before starting that. How old is the engine?

I have an 18' Maritime Skiff. The 50 has been great on it, not real fast but it will get you there. Removing the screw will be my next step once I get it out of the water. I probably try an ez-out on it first and if that does not work I probably drill it out and disable the unit all together. Ill attempt the repairs over the winter. Im still open for suggestions. Thanks
