Hi and questions about C-Dory - any divers out there?

I always go down and check the anchor and set it securely first thing. Of course the best idea is to have someone top-side while you're diving, but that doesn't always work out.

Hi All:
That is the one draw back to diving off your own boat since we usually don't have guest on board. Occasionally the kids are with us but until lately they had neither the strength nor the ability to help much if something should go wrong. Now that they do it has become a question of wether they would recognize that there is a problem. Don't get me wrong, they're very capable once motivated but as anyone with teenagers knows they can be major air heads. My concern is not so much that the boat won't be there, we ALWAYS check the anchor, but that if there was an emergency, could we get back to the boat. About all we can do is to have faith that we've prepared enough to give us the confidence that we'll be able to answer the call should it come. In the end, having owned both a 22' cruiser and now a TomCat, we much prefer the cat.
 
Went diving yesterday, on the Peace boat out of Ventura. (great boat and crew) This was my sons certification dive, he did great. On one of the dives, while cruising around enjoying the habitat of the fishes, I came across the boat anchor and a site that will double start the heart of any fisherman. The anchor had hit an urchin upon hitting bottom, the urchin was injured and opened up. There was a feeding frenzy going on and it was very interesting getting right up to the fish and watch them eat. I reached out and grabed a nice sized calico bass by the tail. I hope the pictures I took come out.
