Hi team C-Dory-

I have been asking this seller questions on this boat because I do not see any clear information about an 17 or 18 ft 1990 cdory on the official sites or nada guides.

He keeps bouncing between 17/18 ft.

In your opinions is this just a misrepresented 16 footer. Of course this not giving me confidence in the seller, but I think this is a practical first boat for me.

I am looking for a boat to take into the monterey bay, but also small enough to trailer and drive all over northern california.

Any advice/thoughts is appreciated.

You are correct, it is a 16 Angler. And the stripe has been re-painted as evidenced by the bilge pump thru-hull fitting being painted the same color.

From the looks of it, more than just the stripe was painted, it appears most of the interior has been repainted as well (floor, ceiling, cuddy hatches, hull sides), and the outboard has been re-painted. You can compare to photos of my 1990 in my albums to see what the original gelcoat looked like, as well as the original 1990 Johnson 40 paint scheme.

Nothing wrong with re-painting as long as it was done correctly, I'd be asking why and how it was painted. My guess was just a refresh...the johnsons are prone to corrosion when used in salt (mine needed quite of bit of paint when I got it), and the hull will get scratched up over time when used for fishing and crabbing, etc.. Some use paint to re-do the interior floor, I went with gelcoat when I re-did my floor, same as what the factory used...gelcoat is more work and more expensive but it might hold up a bit better than paint, especially 1-part paint.
