Halcyon News

Great cruise, El and Bill -

With you every word and photo -- and even would hoist one in the evening to you two great friends.

Cheers,

Old Dusty

Kate and I will check out your new posting asap. Glad to hear you are both doing great. It is about sundowner time here so will tip it to you both here shortly.

Looking forward to the next face to face with you.

And the Crab Palace awaits your return! Patty found (online, natch) crab knobs for all the cabinets and drawers in the kitchen... [DaNag Bill - can you dredge up a crab emoticon somewhere?:beer:lol: :cocktail

There is a new set of postings on the Halcyon Days site about our cruising on the California Delta. Check under California or click on 2003 and scroll down to November. Sure have had a great time here. We leave tomorrow for NV.

We have just posted a bunch of new tales on our cruising in the California Delta. http://www.geocities.com/bill_fiero/deltaisolation.htm
From the bottom of the page, to read more tales, click home and then scroll to California and click on the other tales.
We are 'home' in the crinkled volcanic mountains of southern Nevada. Coyotes singing to us each evening and a mountain lion left 5" paw prints near us a few days ago.
Red Fox -- now you are getting the full story -- we puttered around in Alaska coves this summer and hang out in the crevices of Southern Nevada in winter -- the IRS has a REAL problem. This is a town you'd enjoy -- UFO's are regularly spotted landing on the dirt street, folks come out at sundown for a shoot out (they both missed), and we spotted two Bighorns today on the hill behind us. El and Bill on Halcyon

Yes I miss the desert a lot - I hear there are red foxes there to :wink
So far we are having a good winter :thup , I like them that way - cold with snow... that does not melt away!! and I can't wait to get out and get that "freezing spray" on RF again! cheers :beer

I now copy your tales into Word and print them, it's so much easier on the eyes, and I get more out of it to that way -- I don't have to rush as much, due to less eye strain.
Anyway, I read "The Dixon" You gize are fun! and honest to boot! certainly your going to publish your site to a book some day :idea yaa yaa :thup come on :beer :beer

PS: (El and Bill) I just read your latest, thanx for the warning to steer clear of that area... lol I think I know where that crowd hangs out in the winter months...... there all driving the streets of Ancho'rage'!! (see the word "rage" in the last part of 'Anchorage') :crook it's ne secret, be warned if you should ever visit this city, everyones damn kids grew-up and now drives there own car :amgry

Red Fox --
Yeh, Greg, sure know what you mean about ancho-rage. Lead natural history trips to Alaska for some years, and couldn't get out of ancho-rage soon enough. Our last driving trip up (a pleasure trip, not work), we drove the haul road to Prudhoe, and flew out of there to Nome, Kotzebue, and points east. We grabbed the Blue Canoe, and went to the end of the run (on the last day of that year's ferry run west) out through the Aleutians, then, in October, we drove up to Inuvik. Marvelous to look at the northern lights to the SOUTH. We got outta there before the McKenzie froze and beat feet south as the termination dust was covering the highway in our wake. Good trip. We did a little boating around on Prince William Sound on other trips, to look at the wildlife, so know a little about your boating area. No one -- NO ONE -- can take pictures of that country like you do. We sure enjoy your photos and your comments on this site. Next trip north, we'll be looking for you. El and Bill on Halcyon

Hey I’ll hold ya to that! -sounds like I need the tour guide from you two! Wow, you have been around my territory more than I! And you did the haul road to boot! I have done a portion of it, when I used to go to Manly on my motorcycle. I have been wanting to do what you did lately –doing the Aleutians, I have only read a little about it, I’ll bet it was a rough trip.. huh!
Thanx for the compliment on my photography! I’ll be posting more this winter as I get around to it.

We have just finished a cruise from Myanmar, through Thailand to Laos. Elephants and good beer! We are on long tail boat and sure wish we had Halcyon over here.

You are there, wishing you had Halcyon, David is in Maui, wishing he had Anna Leigh, we are here at the Crab Palace (even a few new ones, not counting the lovely crab pin that Brock got Patty), Daydream is in Fall City but we'll be at Jarrell's Cove next weekend with a ton of good folk for the kick-off of the C-Dory year of fun...Wish you could join us! Did you receive our bon voyage message?

Pat,

Where did you find the crab knobs for the cupboards? Gotta have some :smilep :smilep.

If you folks have some spare time over the weekend, you might want to pop a brew, sit back in a comfy chair, and do a little cruising on the Mekong. We've posted up some tales and pix from our recent trip to Thailand --

http://www.geocities.com/bill_fiero/home/thailand/thairivers.htm

At the bottom of the rivers page, you can click on THAILAND and share other observations we made in Thailand. Under elephants, check out the pic of El swinging on the joined trunks of two elephants.

LAKE MOJAVE!!! Finally got enough time to finish the posting of cruising Lake Mojave and a tale of the C-Dory Gathering at Lake Mojave -- sorry to be so slow, but we've been on the go. To find the postings, click on the addresses below or go to the Halcyon link on the left of the C-Brat pages, and then click on 2004 on our Halcyon Days and you'll see the latest postings -- Lake Mojave and Thailand.
