Good Day my fellow C-Brats. So you have not seen any post in about a week from Halcyon/Bill & El.... Well... They departed Denver on 11-27 to Chicago to Quebec....to Egypt... I am getting their "OK" message when they send one. I did find one of their stops most interesting having been in the same area before... and liking old lighthouses...
I am not sure what the oldest known lighthouse in the world is....but the one in Alexandria Egypt has to be getting close. A pic and some neat information about it.

The lighthouse of Alexandria (or The Pharos of Alexandria, Greek: ὁ Φάρος τῆς Ἀλεξανδρείας) was a tower built in the 3rd century BC (between 285 and 247 BC) on the island of Pharos in Alexandria, Egypt to serve as that port's landmark, and later, its lighthouse.
With a height variously estimated at between 115 and 150 m (380 and 490 ft) it was among the tallest man-made structures on Earth for many centuries, and was identified as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World by Antipater of Sidon. It may have been the third tallest building after the two Great Pyramids (of Khufu and Khafra) for its entire life. Some scholars estimate that would make the tower the tallest building up to the 14th century
Cool...
Now, there last OK message was from:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&g ... &z=12&om=1
and you have to be sure and include the whole link in the site line as to spot their location at the time.
Just for those who like lighthouses...and appreciate the travels that Bill & El provide us...
Safe Travels Halcyon!
