Google ads?

So, I'm signed in and I see google adds on every page.

Does anyone else see the ads?

I thought those adds are only for the non members and if we are signed in we members don't see the ads.

Larry – I can see them also. They do not bother me and if it helps Bill & Mike with their expense for this site, I say we live with it.

I don't see them. On edit here. Yes I DO have them now. I don't have a problem with them actually. If they help pay the rent, that's a good thing.

We have them too and coudn't figure out why. We even logged on and off a few times. Still have them.

Yup...ads for everyone. The proceeds from the "guest only" configuration are barely covering expenses, and I'm trying to build a war chest for a new dedicated server and hosting plan.

Ads are in the same two places guests would see them:

- The small text block of ads across the top of every page.

- The banner in lower the right corner of the home page, beneath your login details.

If anyone really doesn't want to see them, there is a relatively simple solution - if you are running Firefox. Simple install any of the ad blocking extensions, and include "googlesyndication.com" in the block list. This will actually block Google Ads on any site you visit.

I've run my own website before, which was no where near as popular nor as useful as this site, and it cost money to operate . Since you've offered this to me at no expense, I can live with the ads. It's the least I can do....and I do mean least

Yes, I see a blue 3/8" row across the top of the page, but really no ads, just a sentence explaining what portal I'm at. Is that the ad? If so, not a bother, anything to help fund this site. Thanks Bill and Mike.

I can live with the ads, if I have too. But I would rather put my money where my mouth is....give me a number and I will see if I can't do my part to reduce it.

Would there be any value to a yearly auction? Brats would donate items or services that other brats would bid on and all proceeds could go into the coffer. We could call it Brat Bay?????
I would not mind at all if the proceeds exceeded the required operational expenses, maybe some charitable contributions would be in order. I have recently seen efforts to get groups of kids here or there and a call was sent out for Brat help. Maybe we could actually fund some small token event.
Food for thought guys, but if it flys some lucky bidder will get his or her choice of several custom made boat accessories compliments of my shop!
