Wandering Sagebrush

Free Range Human
Three of us got out for a beautiful day of offshore fishing today. A bit of a late start, but lines were in the water around 8:30, and our limit (9 hatchery silvers) by 1:30. All totaled, we caught 20 silvers and released 11. One very nice chinook, was also released. Now I have to clean the scales and gurry out of Constant Craving.

We had a very easy ocean.

Steve,

Congrats on a good day...what were the sizes and what is OR's regs requiring the take of kings? I am hoping to get to the N CA Coast for the 10 day window at the end of this month to hopefully get into a few kings...its been too long!

Vern

Vern,

South of Cape Falcon (where I am), we can not retain any chinook. The coho were running up to about 10-12 pounds. Roughly a third were 4-6, a third 6-8 and the remainder around 10+. It wasn't bad out there with a 22 fish day. 21 coho, kept 9. 1 chinook released.

Good luck on your trip!

Oh, the water is warm (59ish), but the fish are still here. We heard a couple of bigger boats clearing for tuna grounds, but did not hear how they did.

Good going, Steve. Nice, nice fish at 10-12 pounds for coho.

We've taken 25 out of the ocean off the CR, but only a few in that size range. They grow a lot in a week, though, so maybe this weekend if the weather holds off. If not, they're doing pretty good in the river already.

Keep it up!
