Beautiful day at Lake Tahoe....Launched Gizmo yesterday to look at a bouy with and for a friend. It was beautiful so yesterday I decided to spend the better part of the New Years first day, fishing. :D Launched Gizmo at the ramp as always this morning late. Backed down the ramp..Gizmo would not float off the trailer. The trailer was frozen to the bottom of the boat. I looked and the trailer was a foot off the bottom stuck to the bottom of Gizmo, floating with the boat. Temp is around 35*. Last night much colder. Well....thats a first for me. Caught 2 nice lake trout. Happy New Year :D , :D

You mean you didn't get the new option?
Call and have them install the "boat bottom warmer"
note---- This is not an option for Southern California :xlol

Only thing I can think of even close to that one is: :wink I know an aluminum fabricator that built his own small boat trailer out of aluminum square tubing. To keep the water out he welded all of the ends closed. First time he tried to launch a small boat he had made, the trailer floated and he couldn't get the boat off of it. :embarrased

Happy New Year everyone. Hug Your Pellet Stove. :xlol

Been there  :beer

Aren't you supposed to use an Extra layer of Bunk Board Wax if the temps are below 35? Myth busters did the boat secured to the trailer. It slowed the boat down, but it did float. :embarrased

Be careful that you don't float your rear wheels off the ramp. I saw a fellow sink a Ford wagon full of ham gear when he forgot to take the straps off the boat. When he stepped out of the car, it went down the ramp and into the drink...

That is a non-habit forming mistake.

In situations where water levels rise and fall, either because of tidal movements or lake level fluctuations, it's always smart to know where the end of the paved ramp is.

Sometimes it's marked by a post on the dock or in the water, or by a line drawn on the dock with a sign attached.

Backing down a ramp with an unmarked end can result in the rear wheels of a tow vehicle falling off the ramp and down into a hole from which the vehicle cannot escape! This can also happen to the wheels on the trailer, but to a lesser degree.

Worst of all is to back off into the hole, get trapped, and then have the tide come back in on your car, filling it up from the trunk forward on the incline.

Don't ask me how I know! :sad

I've always made it a practice to walk down the ramp before launching to clear the ramp of any debris I don't want to run my wheels over and to check the overall condition of the ramp, which includes viewing the area of the ramp that is submerged by water. (I even check the ramp in Everett prior to launching and it is in my opinion one of the finest launch sites around!)

You C-Dory guys have nothing else to do when the weather stinks but respond to funny posts on the brat site  The water here at Tahoe at the ramp is so clear you can see a dime in 10ft. of water, a quarter at 20ft and a half dollar at 30ft. :) From my house to launch is maybe ten minutes. Sometimes, you can see the 4-5 pounders swimming under the boat at 6-10 ft. The Lake is 27 miles long and 11 miles wide. Come visit and I'll show you around. Catch a few wild trout  Not today  it's winter in the Sierra Nevada's :(

Everett does have the best ramp and parking facilities. :thup Mukilteo probably the worse. :thdown And, there's nothing like pulling into a strange ramp in the dark and finding it has a toll gate you have to put money into (you haven't the right change) and no place to turn around. :amgry

I almost forgot the ones that you can't get out of on a low tide. :cry
