Full Spectrum Light

Joel- I know what you mean. The best Rx is to crank up the kicker and lean back on my main (40hp) and toodle into the sun or overcast. It's the best! :smile
 
My C-Dory is locked in the barn, 10 blocks away, and I don't have a key. When I get depressed, (which is when I can't see my boat or the water) I come home and turn on the computer. The screen is really bright, :idea and then I dial into the C-Brats site and I just feel this nice warm glow :hot . Everyone here is so nice and warm, the comments are all so cheery, :smile and the knowledge level is so high :thup , I just can't help but feel better :rainbow .
You all get :hug :hug2 for making this a highspot in the day.

Well, Marty - I did the Google thing for you, the consensus is that there is no decent Jewish deli in Seattle or Washington State for that matter. Goldberg's in Factoria Mall holds itself out as an authentic Jewish deli but the reviews are universally awful. Oh, well, they don't know how to make Philly cheesesteaks here either. Kaminski's was my spot for cheesesteaks in Camden! You know we at least know how to slice the corned beef in Snoqualmie! Hey, bring some proper Jewish rye bread out, whatever else you need, we will go back in the prep area and you can explain how you want it put together, maybe it will end up on the menu with a fancy name, how about "Platz's Platter" or something like that?
 
Oy vey! Pat, please don't get me wrong. I'm starting to feel like Larry David here. Your sandwich is just wonderful. I love it. It's just a fact of life that one cannot make a Jewish corned beef sandwich unless their ancestors came from the eastern Europe--or Mexico! By the way, Goldbergs has really gotten better. As my Asian dentist from Brooklyn says, "we have to go there at least once a month to keep them in business." :wink:

Talk about depressed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The roofers just finished tearing my roof off yesterday...... and it is raining now..... was not supposed to... but yesterday the weather report changed...to 10% chance...then later 40% chance.......and now it;s for REAL !!!!!! I am worried, but there is not much I can do....the roofers came over this morning and put plastic up....sure hope it works ........... I need a drink...

Think I will go out and sit in the boat....

Joel, what you've just described is a common phenomenon in the PNW.

Are you in Camarillo? If so, there should be lots of happy folks to see the rain!
 
The above sandwich is not corned beef, it's pastrami. I apologize. Here is a small 1/2 corned beef

Been using a SAD light for over 8 winters now for about 30 plus minutes a day while reading the morning paper and drinking my coffee. After 40 plus years here in the 49th state the darkness finally started getting to me. :crook As mentioned early in this thread, full spectrum lights to nothing it’s the brightness of the light. That and exercises (outdoor exercises is best)are the best combination to fend off the winter blues. :thup :thup

Only on C-Brats would a thread on Full Spectrum lighting include gigantic, glistening photos of even 'giganticer', sinful sandwiches... I mean, What is the Carbon footprint of that first sandwich?

I'm probably just noticing it more since I've just started trying to begin a diet this last week.... So, one week into it, pictures like that make me drool! I am just so glad to hear they are an integral part of a healthy diet program!

Now, how to find a good deli in Wichita, KS..... is that a Mexican or Chinese corn beef sandwich?

Call the local synagogue and ask the rabbi's secretary. If there is one within a hundred miles, she'll know.
 
Besides the Lights used first thing upon rising in the morning, followed with exercise, having a regular, fixed and set wake-up time will help to maintain a regular sleep pattern, which in turn will help to defray the seasonal depression. That wake-up time should not vary, and bedtime, should it vary from time to time should not dictate any change in the morning wake-up time.

Well here's my summary after using this stuff for a few weeks. Be advised this aint exactly up to publication standards of the New England Journal of Medicine . Just let me say, in summary, "It works for me". Who knows maybe I'll get the Nobel Peace Prize.

I bought a desk lamp model with dimmer. I turn it on full blast for about 15 minutes first thing in the morning and put it about 18 inches away. After that I bend the arm down and dim the light a little as I work on the computer. I can't believe it, I'm sleepiing through the night and my affect (and outlook) have improved greatly. I also, at Dr. Johns suggestion, went to Home Depot and got a bunch of 27 watt daylight bulbs which I put around the house. Just beautiful, and PSE has a coupon for $2off per bulb. Ask the clerk for it.
