BREVITY has a Webasto AirTop 2000s that is, in my opinion, the best accessory ever for cold weather boating. Absolutely love it.
HOWEVER. The 2-ish gallon aluminum fuel tank it came with has no gauge and is very hard to fill through the deck fill. So I routinely 1) spill diesel fuel and 2) run out of diesel for the heater.
I could drill the tank for a gauge, but I think a simpler solution to switch to a translucent plastic tank, like the ones that are used with Wallas stoves. I could easily take it out of the boat to refill it, and it would be easy to see the fuel level by looking at it.
Is this an acceptable idea? Is there some reason that a plastic tank would not work as a diesel tank for the Webasto?
I appreciate your input!
