Ft Flagler State Park

Hi Karl,

I am not sure for sure, but I seem to remember it both ways. I do know that just down the bay a couple of miles, Mystery Bay State park docks are in the water year around. I can check with a buddy at work that lives just outside of Flagler and was kayaking over the weekend. He may know if they are in the water or not.

Another option is the Marine Science station dock at Fort Worden. those docks are in year around and it is a state park dock so the same pass is good there too. Don't know if the science center is open but probably is on limited winter season hours.

AND..... Sequim Bay State Park docks are in the water year around. I think they pull the port a john but there are restrooms and showers within walking distance for you young sprouts.

That Wabasto must be working well if you're planning on coming up this way soon.

Thanks for the replies.

Harvey,
Yes, the espar is working well. It was working overtime this past weekend at Jarrell Cove. This next trip is actually to be a man camp weekend of fishing. I'm bringing the boat and fishing gear and meeting up with a couple land yachts. Trying to find somewhere that will work all around and hopefully produce a fish or two. Sequim Bay is plan B. Let me know if you find out for sure on Ft Flagler.

Thanks again,

Karl

Carl,

Fort Worden would be a good option, close to the fish and camp availability too. Good luck on the fish. Feb 14, 15, and 16 Salmon Derby going on up here. john Wayne will be crazy.

I have not fished it in awhile but Mid Channel Bank out of Fort Worden was always pretty good for fish Mooch on the slack.

Hi Karl,

Called the parks today. Flagler docks are pulled until April. Mystery Bay's dock is in the water year around, but no camping there. Sounds like Flagler camping is closed too. I did get someone at the Ft Worden Marine Science Center. The dock there is in the water, but they do not monitor (or know much about) the dock since it is owned by the State Park He just knew there was a fee there. Phone for Ft Worden is 360 three fourty four 4431. Science Center is on winter hours, Fr, Sat & Sun Noon to 4PM. I would try there, although he thought the park might be closed for camping now too. So that leaves Mystery Bay, Sequim Bay, or Port Townsend Boat Haven or Point Hudson. Point Hudson does have RV parking right close. So does John Wayne marina.

Oh yes, and the _*$$#^@ news is there is a Salmon Derby. The Olympic Peninsula Salmon Derby. For what up, see
www.GardinerSalmonDerby.org
which is the old name for the new Peninsula derby now.

Parking at John Wayne will be limited to tree tops and daylong hikes from the ramp. This derby will include area from Tongue Point east of Port Angeles around easterly to Port Ludlow, and across to Whidbey Island.

Good luck.

Hey Harvey,

Thanks so much for getting the low down. The good news is we're going the weekend after the derby so sounds like Sequim bay will work out. Hopefully the derby contestants will leave a couple blackmouth behind and the wdfw won't close the fishery between now and then. Now all we need is for the weather to cooperate.

Cheers,

Karl

Hi Karl,

Just got a call from the Ranger at Sequim Bay SP. They are open year around, and currently, with a camp host in place. Dock is in, and hookups are on. This weekend, weather looks to be coming on strong. Wet and WINDY. Might slow the masses some.

Have a great weekend.

Harvey
