fresh water wash down

It is blowing 40 knts with 17' seas today so............no fishing.

What would one need fresh water wash down for when out on the water???
I realized that my sink is full of lures and other stuff and never used. I could easily "T" off the water line to an outside hose and have a really nice system. THe pump and tank is there and works fine. Maybe a good project before covering up the boat for the season.

I use a hot fresh water shower to clean fishing gear etc. on the way in, saves time and cleans everything better than cold water at the dock.

MyIRA did something of the sort with a recessed shower port and mixer on the back deck against the cab where the sink is. I plan on doing the same. I specifically deleted the wash down that came with my boat.

Loved JFK but the above quote is bunk.

Most writings agree there is 2 - 3 X more salt (sodium and chloride ions, and not
proportional) in sea water than in human blood. Moreover, the mineral content
(iron, copper, magnesium, etc) is even a wider discrepancy.

Let fish be fish. Let's all try to be human.

Aye.

Foggy, this may come as a surprise, but the oceans salinity varies, depending on place and time. I didn't look up the numbers but the Gulf Coasts Mexico and California and Mediterranean all run a higher salinity than the Pacific. Also the Bering Sea salinity goes up in the winter and down in the summer, (salt doesn't freeze -- and yes, salt water does, but not at 32 but at lower temps depending on the salinity.)

Also, the salinity in the human body will vary too, but not nearly as much as the ocean water.

PS, I like the "quote" and I like the idea.

FAKE NEWS - because I think it’s true it is a fact! Lol. Yes I know this but the quote is so romantic that I just love it! True or not I long for the Sea where I feel at home.

I put a fresh water wash down on my 22 Cruiser & the 25.
I never fish fresh water, so the bucket deal don't work for me. I rinse Downriggers, rods, reels, dodgers, flashers, lures etc. after every use. That salt water loves to eat expensive gear

In the winter months I pack 5 gal jugs to rinse gear.
Have a good one
