For those who know me... my new boat "Sea Badger"

Been a Brat for a few years now, but haven't owned a C-Dory since 2008. My latest boat is a 2011 Stabicraft 2250SC, which I've named "Sea Badger" - basically because Mrs. Sarge claims that I bagered her into buying the boat.

That's a fast boat!

I wanted to see what the boat looks like, so it looked it uphere, and here, and here.

It's somewhat different than the C-Dory concept!

I note that it has the buoyancy rings around it, like a RIB boat, and like some C-Dory owners have talked about adding!

Prior to purchasing our 1st C-Dory (the 16' Cruiser) we were extremely close to purchasing the Stabicraft, however changed our minds at the last moment and went with the C-Dory. Years ago we were getting ready to launch our 16' at the Washington Park launch ramp and two guys with an approx. 16' Stabicraft were getting ready to begin a journey to Alaska in their vessel. They were packing amongst a lot of other gear, extra fuel in jerry cans for the trip.
The Stabicraft is very similar to the ACB (Aluminum Chambered Boats) like our Fire/Rescue Boat. A well built vessel that a person can feel extremely safe in. (Note: the ACB company went out of business a year ago. They were located in Bellingham, Wa.).

Looks like a fun and functional boat. They are a bit strange looking but I am a function over form guy so I can see the appeal. If we ever end up with a smaller boat for lakes and day use, it would likely be a metal one. We installed the same Garmin Nav system as you this spring and are loving it too. Don't miss the Raymarine C80 system one bit. We will watch for you out there!

I think Mark nailed it with the F-117 stealth fighter looks. Hadn't thought of it that way, but now I completely see it. It is definitely a function over form boat. I wanted to name it "Fugly" but the Mrs. vetoed that quickly. Hard to explain to two little kids :roll:

Dave, they do use these as police boats in New Zealand and Australia, much like the ACBs here.

I need to get the boat Christened and Reverend Dave, you're the man! I'm trying to find a CBGT to attend that you'll also be attending. In boating I have two big superstitions...no bananas on a boat, and the boat must be Christened. I can handle the banana part, but I need help with the Christening.

I hope to see many of you out there now that I'm finally on the water again.

While you were posting, I did a search for boating superstitions. I thought it would be a good and fun thread... after reading it, I decided against it for your exact reasons. OMG, everything is bad luck. Better to not read the list. :-)

Two things from my Hawai'i fishing days: No bananas and no tuna sandwiches on-board!

Last yr Meredith and I went crabbing and did not get one keeper. The next morning I awaken to her eating a banana! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :x That explained it! :wink: :lol: She still thinks it's ridiculous. :lol: I told her you don't mess w/ fishing gods; them's the rules. She then asked about the tuna. I told her "why would any fish bite your line when you're eating their cousin?" Made perfect sense to me. She thinks that one is ridiculous too. :lol:
 
I too have lived through a few of those. St. Elmos' Fire was the coolest ever. But it scared the hell out of my youngest sons.

Mark, also make sure no one is wearing pink. Bad ju ju!!! Pink = No Fish!!!

Hey Sarge!!! Great to see a post from you. Nice to see you are not boatless...which is no way to go thru life. That large built in live bait set up in the aft port corner of the cockpit looks like a great Margariaville platform too!! :thup :smiled
