flush fitting

This may have been covered previously but I can't find it. Is there a fitting on a Honda 40 where I can attach a hose for flushing or must I use the earmuffs? I seem to recall that there was a screw-on hose fitting on the 75 we used to have. Thanks

I'd also be interested for our Honda 45. Also how long are people flushing for? I have a maintenance and repair manual that states 5-10 minutes. I hate to waste that much water if it isn't necessary.

I think the bigger engines have a hose fitting but not the <50HP ones. My 45's didn't and the 35 I've got now don't. The hose fitting doesn't do a complete flush because you can't run the engine when it's flushing. Only with the muffs or in a tank.

Marty I had the dealer put a flush hose on my Honda 50. He somehow tied into the cooling system under the cowling and ran a hose out where the wiring exited the engine. I had this because of storing my boat on a lift but if I had a choice I would prefer to flush with the muffs and the engine running.

My 2009 Honda 50 EFI has a port on the lower end for a hose adapter. I asked my dealer about it as it did not come with the adaptor, but it was shown in the owners' manual. Sportcraft Marine told me the order of preference for flushing went like this: First- A Bucket, Second- Muffs. Last- Hose Fitting.
