Salmon arrived. Bait fish in thick columns, birds on top and salmon underneath. Limited in under 4 hours with fish in the 15 to 20 pound range.

Finally I get to use the boat for my intended use. After I bought the boat our salmon fishing was regulated out while the fish were in a recovery mode.

They are back and look better than ever. Our biggest fish landed was 32 inches long and had a 10 girth, Our biggest fish not landed could have been 10 pounds greater. Just awesome.

Fish are moving north. Get your gear ready. This last trip I will place in my 5 best trips ever.

Tis the season! Yahoo!

I've been landing kings each time out so far. I have never caught fish this consistantly, this early in the year. Hopefully it is a sign of a good season to come in the sound! Largest so far was about 15-17 pounds. All catch and release so far...

I have not seen this much bait fish - ever. The salmon were gorged with baby shrimp. I also saw a whale. Don't know which species but it was not a grey.

The winds also died and the water is warming up to 54. Looks like we will have these conditions for another week. I need to figure out how to get away from the office.

In years past the fish we had over this last trip were the fish other's caught. It was cool when another cleaning his nice salmon was bragging about it and then we pulled 4 bigger fish out of our box.

Yes the fishing is good. Yesterday boats were returning at 9 in the morning limited out.

Tuberider, are the fish still near the surface ? Ive been avoiding the july 4th week glut of Turons,so havent been out since monday the 2nd when we went out to #2 bouy at 6 & were on our way back in with our limit of 4 at 6:50.It took longer to get thru the ramp crowd than it did to fish. Thinking obout going tomorrow early, then again on sat with flatlander newbies coming up from Sac. on friday. We used small divers but heard they went deeper for a few days. Looking for an update. I was marking fish at all depths and some were 50 foot and deeper. I use down riggers. We found that 25' was good for plenty of action. Of course I always have something smelly to offer them. The line that worked so well that day had a stainless flasher a thirty inch leader to double hooks with an anchovy. Pretty minimal.

Vern I was not with the fleet. They were near shore south of 2. I went out bottom fishing off south reef and had another vessel pull a salmon out 100 yards from us. That was after trolling for 3 hours inside without a single strike. Our action was just north of south reef. Start out by looking for slick lines to work until you find the birds and then hang with them. On Sunday we limited in under 3 hours. The fish are moving north and I have been told that star rock was also good. The morning bite was best.

Pictures requested. I have some so I will have my son in law help me get them posted.

Went out this morning.Water looked great from the harbor. Didnt look nearly as good passing round rock. NOAA was right this time, easilly 6 to 8 at 8 sec. We fished outside #2. Buddie hooked &released a silver & I hooked and lost a king.Fishin buddie got pretty sick so we called it. Will try again on saturday,Vern
