Fish/Crab Whackers

Wow! It is beautiful. Thanks so much. I will be able to tell if the king salmon is legal size before I bring it over the side. Boy, am I a dreamer? :crook I have to hook one first. Maybe Cathlamet.
Thanks Dave, Robbi

OK, so here's a funny story...

I've never been salt water fishing before. Growing up by a lake in New England, just never really had the opportunity.

Now, as a new C-Dory owner, I've just learned that when fishing salt water, as you never know how large the monster is you will be hoisting up, you need a fish bonker. I've just never followed the thought process out far enough to the point of what to do with a 50lb fish flopping around in your cockpit as the usual monster's I've encountered are a pound or two... ha ha.

Hope that brings a smile to your faces. Remembering the first time you have ever gone salt water fishing.

Ha, amazing how the learning curve works...

Mike,

Really, to date I've still never gone salt water fishing. This spring will be my very first time, ever. The event will be on my new 16' C-Dory cruiser. I take delivery in about 2 weeks. Perhaps her maiden voyage will be on one of the group events.

Thus, I suppose I need to get myself a fish bonker.

Cant have anything running wild in my boat besides my girlfriend.

Gary, I'm in similar straights (so to speak). Tons of experience boating and fishing in the midwest, hardly any of which translates out here. Tides, lanes, rips, swells, following seas, charts, subs, 50# behemoths with unknown self-defense capabilities...it's all a new world. Makes me really grateful for this site and the patient folks who dwell here.

John,

I couldnt have said it better myself.

David: That is a very kind offer. However, as we've never even met yet, I would feel bad about taking one. I'm sure there is are seasoned Brats out there who should be much higher up on the list than myself.

Yes, but they haven't expressed the desire to have one. I hadn't met about a third of the 15 or so owners that I made them for when we got together in Seattle. I make a few of them a week while I am turning bowls. Breaks up the work week.
