Well, finally after many months of both preparing the CD22 and waiting out winter - I was able to get the boat in the water. Prior to the CD22, we had a 32ft Sundowner Tug that had a displacement around 21,000lbs -- so I was concerned/wondering how the CD22 would ride in comparison. Well, it is only 1 afternoon of cruising - but the CD22 felt great. I have both Permatrim's and Bennett trim tabs on the boat and that seemed to work great on the chop. I headed out into the bay to pickup some of the 1-2 footers that were coming in and hardly had any slapping of the hull.
Also with the tug - top end was basically 8kts - how fun was it to go 25kts and according to the fuel meter, burning the same amount of fuel per mile!!
The depth sounder worked great, the auto pilot worked, the navigational software worked (need to get used to Raster charts after having Vector charts), Honda fuel flow worked, vhf worked, and the bennett trim tabs auto control worked great.
The issues that I found:
I'm guessing the battery cables coming from the house battery are too small. The inverter had problems keeping the computer and the screen going.
The speedometer part of the Honda Speedometer guage did not work. I'll need to do some research to see how that is suppose to work. just a tube from the engine to the dash.
Not sure if my twin VSR worked as it should have - need to do some testing on the water to see if it actually is charging the house battery.
Right now I'm sitting in our slip in Sturgeon Bay enjoying the boat, the marina, and the nice calm weather.
Tomorrow I plan on making my way out to Green Island - about 15 miles from Sturgeon Bay.
So far, I love the boat - doesn't feel like a toy until you look around the marina and realize that it is.
