Fine Seattle Restaurants?

I am taking my wife to Seattle tomorrow for her 50th birthday. Would appreciate some suggestions for fine dining near 1101 4th Avenue and/or 2214 2nd Avenue. Not looking for ultra-ritzy (i.e., dress-up), just great food.

TIA for any help.

This cornerstone of downtown dining offers lush Italian food and classic cocktails in an intimate setting.

This is our favorite - we usually get a bottle of wine and some appetizers, or with another couple we will split a couple of entrees. Of course there are probably 20 other places in town just as nice or better.

Near the 4th Ave address you listed, there is the Rock Bottom, a pub style restaurant with good food. They're at 1333 Fifth Avenue. Sazerac Restaurant is good with a southern style menu, right at the address you listed.

Further up on 2nd Avenue, there are lots of options as you are in Belltown. One block to the west on 1st, there is the Flying Fish, the Queen City Grill, Jai Thai, Ohana (a really good Hawaiian restaurant) and a BBQ restaurant right next door. A couple of blocks down on 4th is one of my favorites, the Dalia Lounge, as well as my favorite steak house, Buenos Aires Grill, an Argentinian steakhouse on Virginia between 2nd & 3rd.

Lots of choices, depends on what cuisine you're in the mood for and how much you want to dent the pocket book.

My wife and I like Union (Union & 2nd). Really good food - but it's trendy-ish. Some folks don't like trendy...We eat at the bar. :thup

Steaks: The Metropolitan Grill. (820 2nd Avenue).

Good eating!

Kathy and I like the Wild Ginger. Its on 4th I think. I never know where Iam
in Seattle exatly. The lacassa soup is great. It's a sea food curry. Most likley
need reservations at peek times.

I'll second the recommendations for Flying Fish and Brooklyn. For seafood, I would recommend Etta's, Flying Fish and Brooklyn (in that order). There's a new and very good Italian restaurant called Barolo that's on Westlake a couple of blocks south of Denny.

For lunch we went to Rock Bottom -- very good. For dinner we ate at Jazz Alley before the show. We will try Ettas for brunch tomorrow and one of the other places for dinner. Dunno about Thursday as I don't know where we will be before catching the 6 pm train back north.

Thanks, guys! Your recommendations have been great and we both appreciate them.

I was told Etta's had breakfast (pecan banana pancakes), but it appears not. Any suggestions for breakfast places near 1101 4th (the Monaco hotel, where we are staying)?

Thanks,
Warren

Personally, I like to wander the Pike street market in the early AM for breakfast. There's a good bakery down there (Le Panier) and I love the sweet BBQ pork humbows that you can get from a little shop on the East side of the street about 1/2 way down (yes even for breakfast). Cutter's Bayhouse on the N end of the market has a good brunch.

OK, we are back from the wifely birthday trip to Seattle.

Thanks to this group, we experienced wonderful meals at Rock Bottom, Etta's and Brooklyn. We also have a great list to refer to for future trips as well!

At Etta's we were treated to "entertainment" courtesy of the Seattle PD and the multitudes of homeless hanging out at the park across the street.

We re-visited Jazz Alley and went to Tula's for the first time. Also learned about the Triple Door, for a future visit.

Took the train from Mt. Vernon. Cabbing in Seattle is not quite as easy as hailing a cab NYC but we never had to wait long for a cab we called. The jury is out on whether we saved money (particularly parking) and aggravation by leaving our car at home, but it made for a different and fun experience.
