Fell Marine, Man Overboard Device Update

Hey Harvey. Better late than never. lol. I've had my Fell MOB+ installed now for a season. For the most part I like it. However, occasionally I'll have an issue where the device kills the outboard when I don't want it too. I've got both my main and kicker hooked up through it. Seems like there may be two dead spots on my boat. More than once, I've had either my main or kicker fail when I'm near the rear bulkhead, either in the cockpit or in the cabin. (Usually in the head when in the cabin.) I've tried changing batteries in the FOB, thinking maybe they were getting low. No change. The other issue, is that I have yet to figure out how to know my fob batteries are low except when they stop working. Or maybe I haven't gotten low enuf for the main unit to indicate a low battery. I thought it was suppose to flash or something.... Other than that, I do like knowing that if I fall overboard with the fob, the boat won't leave without me. :)

Another fantastic benefit is that all of my passengers get to wear a Fell Marine FOB, so if anyone goes overboard, the boat stops. In this situation, the boat can be restarted immediately, to allow the rescue to happen.
HI Steve,
To my knowledge, only the first FOB started, ie the skippers, kills the outboard. And a passenger can restart the boat after a few seconds, so they can come rescue you. The other Fob's that are started after the first one, will only set off a warning horn, but the motor will not kill. Colby

Interesting. On my system, the only FOB that stops the engines is the first one that is "paired" to the hub. Th next one, IF activated, sets off a loud enough beep it cannot be ignored, plus a pretty bright strobing flash. This alerts the person at the helm but does not require an engine restart. I wonder if there are different, (updated), software versions.

Either way, I love my MOB+ device.

PS: Colby is right. The first FOB to conect with the hub (sign in) SHOULD BE the skipper. IF Skipper goes overboard, you do want the vessel to go dead in the water.
