Factory Tour

So I called the Auburn C-Dory factory this morning asking if I could get a tour anytime soon, in which the response was 'Of course. Come on over." So that is exactly what I did and I must say if I was not thoroughly impressed with C-Dory before today, I definitely am now.

Aside from the impressive construction (this deserves an entire dedicated string) the people there are amazing! Rich R. spent well over an hour taking me over every detail and answering every question I possibly had; many of the times calling over the 'guy' responsible for that exact detail. And of course he offered that once I placed my order in March (finger crossed!) I was more than welcome to come as often and watch MY boat being built, examining every part of the process (Tomcat 255).

Anyone who is on the fence about a C-Dory should definitely take a trip over to Auburn and meet the team. You will be sold in a heartbeat. I am sure I am not the only one with similar experiences....

They ususally do tours for folks that come there for the factory party on Saturday night during SBS08. I want to take a picture of a TC255 hull with tanks installed before the deck/superstructure is put on so we can see where stuff is.

This was how it was when I ordered both my 22 and my currant 25. At the time I lived about 45 minutes from the factory and I was encouraged to visit as often as I wanted. I took pictures several times a week as I watched the two boats being built. (Pat on Daydream was able to do the same) I was also able to ask for several small design changes that I wanted on the 25, based on experience and information gleened from the C-Brats. Change is part of life, nothing in this world remains unchanged and often changes are difficult to accept. It is nice to hear that the visitation policy is still in place.

That is great to read! There are some freakishly experienced boaters on this site that can help with anything. I signed papers on a 2007 TC255 about a month ago and I was armed with a lot of information in advance because of this site.

I said it once and I will say it again, the address to the C-Brats site should be listed as a free option on the C-Dory invoice!

Yes! C-Brats is great place to say the least! (THANKS!!)

It was great to go through the TC255 in various stages and reflect back to them all the information that I have gotten from here and being on the boat. It was amazing to have Rich ask the various tech/engineers when I brought up a minor 'problem,' "What can we do to fix this?" Although the 2008 TC255's have already made a number of great minor changes!

Cannot wait to place my order!
