We're curious after Casey's recent post about engines -- for those with a CD-22 what is the maximum rpm you attain and the maximum mph and what is your rated horsepower [forget the kind of engine]? Oh, we know, it depends on pitch and yada yada (as Casey says) -- forget the yada -- on your boat (forget how it's loaded), with your prop (and we don't care what kind or pitch for this question) and your engine (forget make of engine, just how much hp?) what is your max mph at max rpm (and what is that rpm?):

max rpm:
max mph:

How about a good KISS answer --

6500rpm & 27mph - approx. extremely hard to run WOT on the ocean, even behind the breakwater. Twin Suzuki 50s.

Twin Honda 40's WOT RPM = 5700RPM, 27.5kt or 31.6 MPH as indicated on the GPS (going perpendicular to current). Only obtained on very flat water, with a relatively light load and with some trimming of the engine tilt (no trim tabs).

90HP 5100 RPM 31 Statute mph moderate load

Now that you have the attention of a few see brats , it might really be helpful for some of the C Brats that are still looking to match their prop (s) , to know all of that, plus type of engines, HP , max rpm, top speed. So if we had problems matching prop(s) to our C-Dory it might be easier than have to run back & forth to your suppliers. On my sea trials with different sizes I had the right prop at one time but but kept on trying other sizes. If I would had known what I learned those past few days through this forum it would had been lot simpler and probably would have not dinged a prop that I did not need. Gary

Stock Merc 17P in my case. I agree with Red Fox on using the stock props, they generally cover all applications an are relatively cheap to have spares aboard.

Honda 90 (34 hours on engine) about 5700 rpm and 31 mph by GPS with two on board and 25 gallons of fuel plus all the usual safety stuff. Mileage is running about 3.4 mpg.
