jmrII is that in addition to the power down? I have used the digi-troll and they are power down infact you can adjust the down speed (that way you will not cause a early release if you are using a scotty release clip)

Yes power down or controled free spool  :beer I use the offshore black release, I have bought & tried a 100 others  always go the off shore

Tom, Cannon owners, does the auto stop work with power pro? (I'm mystified by tiny electrons) I know there's some electro FM gizmo circuit breaker that makes the cable stop at the surface. Michael

I highly recommend the CANNON digi troll it is one of the best on the market it can stay 5 feet off the bottom all the time

Provided your depth finder doesn't screw thing up.

Scotty's has a lifetime warranty. Something to consider anyway.

If your only going to fish a little I'd buy manuals. It s the only exercises I get trolling . They are simple and always start.........excuse my humor. As for good manuals. I like the Cannons and I own Penns. If I had to choose I'd by Cannons. The swivel bases for Penns are just ridiculously expensive for a glorified piece of plastic . Cannons are not much better but the engineers had a good Idea for a place a hook to stow the ball on the boom arm..... A modification I plan to implement on my Penns. When I'm rich and famous I'll get some electrics on a new C-Dory until then I'm really ok with the manuals.

Don't knock the base until you've tried them. With the scotty's you can grab the boom and the whole system swings to an up position. This can be handy for raising the cannon ball. Anyway, I'm sure they are both good units.

Flapbreaker- I do have the Penn swivel bases and am disappointed in the cost. I like them but expensive for what they are. They are very handy for swinging the ball so I can reach it. How is it I can buy a DVD player for $36.98 and a swivel base is pushing $80?

Can anyone direct me to the albums that show downriggers mounted on a TomCat or a 25' Cruiser?
Thanks in advance.

You can't see all of either of the two downriggers on my Tom Cat but it will give you an idea.
