Hi Bob,
On our Venture the deck in the aft cockpit and in the cabin is sealed on the sides and at the back. The only openings are those I cut to get rid of the water. The deck is cored balsa between two fiber glass layers; the top layer is about 1/4" thick. This looks much like the design of the new Marinaut which they refer to as a double hull. They (Toland) also designed and built the Venture Series so I think it is quite similar.
