Dogon Funny

Welcome home, Dan. Nothing really to catch up on, really. A couple ten thousand message posts and a few thousand pictures. You can probably get through it all while your evenings are still long.

How come you put so many zig zags in that pipe of yours?

Dan - glad to have you back on the site.

Mike - the zig zags are to allow for expansion or contraction of the pipeline because of temperature changes and earthquakes. In 1977 when the pipeline was first used there was almost four feet of pipe lengthening per mile of pipeline.

Welcome back, Dan!

How many hours have you spent pipe dreaming about Hawaii?

Sounds like you better be careful about being replaced on your job: Dave knows more than you do about that damned oversized sewer pipe, and he's 1000 miles downstream, too!

Missed you in Seattle! (at least I think so, maybe). Had to settle for a double dose of Mark (3rd byte) instead. Tom Brady gave me the usual report on the Annual Anchorage Anarchy and Alcohol Derby.

So welcome back and until we meet again, just remember- Sonner or later, All of the Best Get Stuck in the Northwest!*

*(Bill will be an exception to this rule, of course, but I think Dana's OK (as in "okay," but not as used in " I'm just a Oakie Funoakie from Muskoakie").

Keep your oil lamp buring!

P.S ---Oh, and on a topic that's much more important than your stuff, how are the dogs?

.....lol..... I had to laugh. the first thing that came to mind when I read this is why would he need zig zags in his pipe....lol..... , like there would be no need for papers with a pipe......lol....

and then Seawolf wrote

I don't know - it looks to me like they saved so much money using scrap phone poles for supports that they spent the budget on extra pipe. Can't blame it on the fitters - they just follow the plans.

Or it could be that the northern most engineers are just now starting to use computers and they mistook the screensaver for CAD.

Dan – I hope your dogs know how to drive a boat better that the dog in this news story.

Man’s Best Friend? Maybe Not 2/14/07

The Orlando Sentinel reported that police helped rescue an Ocoee man from Starke Lake late Thursday, February 8th, after his dog knocked him out of his boat, then rode around him in circles as he cried for help.

The accident took place at about 7:50 p.m., as Robert Bates, 46, of Ocoee was preparing to head home after an evening of fishing.

Bates had just taken off his flotation device when the dog pounced on the boat's throttle, tossing the man overboard.

By the time officers arrived, the night sky was so dark they couldn't see Bates. A good Samaritan had already found the shivering man, his boat and his dog, and brought them all back to shore.

According to a police spokesman, Bates was in no mood for talking after his near-drowning. The only thing he said ..... was "that dog couldn't drive the boat."
