dinghy for new ranger 25

On my C Dory 22 i carried only a West Marine mini dinghy...almost useless, but fine for what we did..after anchoring, just getting a short distance to shore...or puttering around in creeks and rivers... but it was really too small forthe two of us..kind of comical to see, i think.

BUT...we don't want or need an expensive dinghy for BANJO, the new Ranger...following the El and Bill model, we are considering the 8' Sevylor, i think the Fish Hunter model..Thinking of keeping it deflated in a duffel bag or something, and using a 110/12v electric pump for inflating.

We are open to suggestions..I don't see how anything could be stored up top, with hatches there ,etc, and limited open space. And we don't want a rigid, high tech dinghy...

Any ideas are welcomed by us.

Consider carrying the dinghy on the swim step with weaver davits. You can go with an inflatable - and store it deflated if you want.

The rigid dinghy is great for towing, rowing, but it is heavy and always there....

We also have the sports rack - which holds the dinghy up above the hatches. I have an Achilles LT-2 - a little small but workable for two. I just didn't like struggling to pull the dinghy up there.

I posted a couple pictures in our album a while ago...

I have a couple of inflatable kayaks. Trouble is....they are bulky and it's easy to talk myself out of inflating them. So.....for me.....no more inflatables.

That being said, I'd take a hard look at a canoe. One that can handle two people and/or cargo. I figure it would store easily on the sports rack.

My concern is that nobody else seems to use one. It's either kayaks or dinghy's. I'm wondering why?
