I was affected my this also. I recently got a new card and had only used it about 5 times, one of those times with defender. On May 8th I got a notice on my phone that my purchase at Marni's in LA had been denied because of insufficient funds! The card was from capital one, and they are usually on top of this with my other card. This time though somebody had made 6 purchases in the LA area totalling over ten thousand dollars.
This is why I only use credit cards and never debit. I have co-workers who still use debit. I have only about 20 minutes tied up on the phone with customer service into this incident and it is all behind me now.
I will continue to shop with defender and other online merchants as most local stores simply have stopped carrying many items, and even fewer have different models or brands to choose from. Many times I've driven 30- 45 minutes to go to a specialty store for some item, and they don't stock it.
