Cutwater 24

Here is a review:
http://www.boats.com/reviews/boats/cutw ... ith-punch/

Looks like there are several power options, inboard gas, inboard diesel and outboard 300 hp Yamaha. Inboard gas is standard with the others optional. The 300 hp outboard is a $10k option.

I have been on a Cutwater 26 and the finish was luxurious. The boat was well laid out and used space very well. I expect the same would be true of the 24.

Some of the earlier Cutwater 26s had a Volvo diesel from the Volvo XC 90 all wheel drive station wagon. There have been some problems with electronic control modules on these but my understanding is that the newer ones us a specifically designed Volvo marine engine. No first hand experience, so this is word of mouth.

It is a semi displacement hull with a unique stepped hull design to create lift. Looks fast, probably uses some significant fuel given size, weight and horsepower to hit the upper speeds.

An option to a Rosborough R 246, a CD 25 or Ranger 25. Just depends what one wants and how one wishes to spend ones money.

The $100k special intro price does not include electronics, anchor, windlass, etc. etc.

Be fun to see one if it is at the Boat Show this year!

I lost interest when the author of the article said at 5' 5" he maxed out the v-berth down one side. I am 6' 0" and the 6" 4"" v-berth in my 22 is just doable for a decent night's sleep.

Martin.

Interesting that they are putting out a smaller boat (shorter version). I just saw an add for a new Ocean Sport (Legacy) 26. That's 4 feet shorter than their shortest version so far.

Looking for new markets.

We are not in the market for a new boat, but they sure are "pretty". Would not fit our boating style either. I occasionally make a mess in the cockpit with bait/blood etc.

10 Lbs. of #### in a 5Lb. bag .
Ill bet that water pump is near impossible to change .
Definitly getting away from the knowlegable boaters and going towards to the inexperienced boater that is impressed by bells and whistles.Hope for their [buyer's] sake they have good dealer support. Never quite figured out the Cultwater thing.......
Marc

Exactly, the more experienced the mariner the less impressed by the "stuff." "You must be able to get at everything in a boat, it all fails at some point. I see so much turnover in some lines with new boaters unable to deal with the realities of boating. The 300 hp outboard on 24 ft says it all.
Cutwater seems to be trying to fill a niche between the day/sportboats and the Ranger tug. Love my C Dory works for us

Great Lines, Marc!

"Cultwater 24"

The new, improved Bayliner for TugNuts on a Budget?

(Batten the Hatches, Incoming!

Some people want "bling". Who am I to insult/question what they want. Like I said before, "pretty" ain't our style. I love our Dory like I love my VW's; simple, efficient, affordable etc.

But whatever rocks someone's world...

Have to admit I would love a Cutwater 24 as a day cruiser boat since I don't fish or take long cruises. With the outboard and maybe an airhead, systems maintenance would be much simplified over a Ranger Tug and have the speed when needed more like a C-Dory. And yes when I'm spending that much on a boat I would appreciate some "bling".

So, how do you get access to your bilge pump or sea water pump
(on a C-Dory 26 Venture)? I've never seen mine.

Aye?

My experience: One man's "bling" is another man's poo.

Aye.

Hmmm, I just have a C-Dory 22 and I can find mine. I'm thinking you might want to find yours, just in case. Just sayin. Stepping out of the V-birth into ankle deep water some morning with a full on rain going down, or worse yet, on a clear sunny morning, just adds to the excitement.

Aint boating fun?

BACK to Regular programming: That 24 sounds like a glorified, souped up, C-Dory ---> 300 HP outboard. And it weighs not much more than my 22 that does pretty good with 80 HP. Different hull for sure.

You must have one of those special order 22s with the 37 inch draft.
