Custom Canyon Fish Bag for 16 Anglers - any interest?

I'm sold on insulated fish bags, but of the many vendors I've looked in to - none make a size that fits the back of the 16 Angler very well. Most are too wide, but even the narrower ones are too tall - obstructing the shelf under the splash well.

On my 16 Angler, 50" wide by 18" tall would be perfect...that would just about fill the width, with a height that would come just up to the shelf opening. This size would be plenty big enough for most daily limits for two people where 16's tend to fish - haibut excepted.

One of the bag manufacturers - Canyon - mentions they make custom sizes at their web site. If any of you 16 owners are interested, let me know. I've got an email off to them to see about having one made, but perhaps a group buy might bring the cost down.

Another option might be to get one like I have been using on my boat for about 3 years now. Mine is called "Reliable" and is listed as 20" X 48" although it seems to be more like 19" high by 45" wide when it is sitting upright. The nice thing about the Reliable bags is that it has a flat bottom about 14" wide so it sits upright whereas the other bags I have seen have to be suspended or laid down flat. I throw mine in the cuddy and put the fish in it up there (if I'm lucky!) to keep it out of the way. It could also be set in the splash well I suppose too. It holds a ton of fish and if you fill it up you have had a very good day. I put a picture of it sitting in the back of the boat in my album. I have been very pleased with the quality and functionality. I got it on line fron Chark Bait.

I really can't say how it would keep ice but it is insulated. When I'm fishing in the San Juans or the Skagit River I usually throw a frozen milk jug or two in it to keep the fish cool and the jug stays frozen for the day. Thats typically for 1-2 ling cod or a few small salmon. When I fish off Vancouver Island I don't use any ice at all. The fish stay cool in it and I think keeping the fish bag in the cuddy probably helps because the bow is surrounded by 50 degree water. Up there we sometimes fill it up with big lings, yellow eye, and larger salmon so having more mass in it helps keep the fish cool as well. I've never had any fish spoil in it but then it always seems to be about 55 degrees ait temps whenever I'm fishing!
