The Cumberland River gathering was our first opportunity to join a group of c brats and it far exceeded our high expectations. We want to especially thank our special tour guides Patrick and Mike Byrd for treating us like kings, Mom Byrd for graciously allowing us to gather at her beautiful home on the banks of the upper Cumberland and virtually everyone that made the cruise such a pleasure. At the Shady Cove Restaurant, Brenda Byrd surprised us with individual gifts including a hand towel embroidered with the name and date of the Cumberland gathering with the name of each CD - how cool.
The sight of 7 C Dorys winding between the steep bluffs of the Cumberland is something that we will never forget. As our CD 22, C Eagle and our fellow cruisers, Life of Riley, returned to Lone Branch early on Sunday, it seemed as thoough we had the river to ourselves. The calm water and deep reflections revealed the beauty of the Cumberland.
For anyone who has not yet had a chance to join one of these gatherings, we hope that you can do one soon. A truly special experience.
