Cornet Bay, November 14,15

B~C -

Whatever it takes, it will be good to see you guys again. No need to bring smelt, unless Fred wants some. Dusty don't eat 'em.

Great hearing about Jr. BW, too.

We will not be able to get there until Saturday a bit before noon. Hope we are there in time for whatever cruising, if any, folks want to get in. Will we all be able to stay at the private marina? We'd sure prefer to pay and have shore power! I don't recall seeing anywhere you could tie up at a dock at the state park, only the launch-retrieval floats, is there some place to tie up there? For sure I don't want to be at a mooring buoy...

The Deception Pass State Park at Cornet Bay has one long dock that is accessible from shore via a pier and ramp. Toilet and shower facilities are near the head of the pier. There are also two docks that are not accessible from shore for those seeking more privacy. [Netiher of these are the launch ramp docks.] There is no power or water available at the State Park docks and there are no mooring buoys at Cornet Bay.

The Deception Pass Marina is further into the bay and is a private facility. They can be reached at 360-675-5411; tell them you've been sent their way by Les Lampman at EQ and that you're part of a group of C-Dory boats that will be there for the weekend. Don't assume they have room as it's a small place; they probably do but check ahead. They do shut the water off for the winter; I don't know whether or not this has been done yet. They do have electricity and toilet facilities but no showers (they're just down the road at the State Park).

As of 0720 this morning Weather Underground is calling for highs in the mid to upper 40's and lows in the low 40's; pretty typical stuff and shouldn't be too bad! Oh yeah, and "chance of showers" (like that would surprise you!).

We are still planning on this one. I haven't had a day off in three and a half years, and I go back in tonight for another 12 hours, but I do get Thursday off to get ready. Maybe, just maybe, we'll be ready to roll Friday sometime.

Been on those docks a couple of times and don't remember any power. I'll be coming over through the Swinomish Channel from Guemes Is. on Friday. Bringing along 5 gallons of extra diesel for the Wallas just in case.

Probably should bring along some :beer :beer :beer :beer also.

Well we will be up Saturday..Deja Vu has set in.It is gonna be like last November in Olympia...no boat!!! :cry . The Laurna Jo is gonna sit this one out ,so that her crew can continue recovering from a severe cold... namely Laurie. She has been really sick this last week. So we will at least be hoping for a ride on a couple boats ( :wink Tyboo). Looking forward to seeing everyone and will bring a bag for spuds Roger.

Thanks, Les, will do...are most people here heading for the State Park or the marina?

I just called the Deception Pass Marina and was told that some character named Pat Anderson was waiting for a call from another character named Dundee so the two characters could work out the arrangements for the weekend. It sounds promising.

Where else on the WWW could something like this happen? One guy is taking his boat to the shop for service, and so a bunch of others are bringing their boats or their trucks or their cars to the nearest dock to make it into an event. One character is even taking an airplane and is gonna order a new boat. Sheesh. Ain't life grand?

I hope that Pat character brings that Austin character so he can see his puppy.

Yeah, yeah - rub it in.

By the way, I prefer to have my latte by 7:00AM. About 130 degrees and creamy (not fluffy) on the milk (low-fat or whole, as long as it's organic), two shots (plenty of crema), served promptly in a pre-heated, large ceramic mug.

Oh - and don't worry about the Ghirardelli sprinkles on top. Wouldn't want to be too demanding.

I was just trying to hook up with Dundee to find out if space was available per Les's suggestion - Dundee called back and left a message that he was pretty sure it was, could I give him more details on the rendevous. Unfortunately I can't really, don't know how many boats or who is coming when.

That Austin character is still trying to decide whether to come or not.

Maybe this will help him decide.

Ok Latte Boy...you're in the Northwest now!

Kathy and Shelley walk at 0515, you can join them if you like. I have their espresso ready when they get home at 0630.

They like theirs hot but I can make a lukewarm one for you...

You're good to go on the organic part but we don't (and I can't) drink milk so it's soy (not flavored!)...we'll get some cow juice for you and it will be creamy (not fluffy).

Two excellent shots and it's all crema buddy...

Boy...have I gotta mug for you... :tea

You'll get the Ghiradelli sprinkles...they're already in use at this fine establishment!

OK - here's the deal. Y'all have just a few hours to try and talk me out of it. I got my daughter's Suburban over here, and took it for a ride. It has lots of miles and is pretty loose in the front end even without the trailer. She had a 4" lift put in it, and I wouldn't tow the 22' boat with it. So, then I hooked the 25 up to the Jeep and headed for the scales. The scales pad is short, so the best I could do was weigh the trailer axles and then the Jeep. The trailer was 7050 and the Jeep was 4700. It tows good, and stops square and easy. I took it up to 60 for a ways with no sway or wander. So, what do you think? Any chance of us making it to Cornet Bay with the Jeep? It has a 6500# tow rating and a V-8. She'll be a little slow on the hills, but there aren't many of them. It's a one-way trip this time for the boat, and I might be just fool enough to try it. Twenty years ago, I wouldn't have thought twice about it.

Tim followed me to the scales with his City of Cannon Beach pickup, then got out with his clipboard like he was going to write me up. Made me think for a second.

Being adventurous(me) and for what you say Mike, it sounds like I would take the Jeep. It looks like it will do just fine with the Tyboo. I vote for "go for it". If ya got any problem we we will be around with the Taureg, just in case.

By the way I'll be looking for a Latte around the EQ Place too. Hopefully I won't have to buy another boat to get one though

We will try to get to Cornet bright and early, as long as FedEX gets me outta Medford at a decent time.
Jim
