Cool looking 26' C-Dory on AK Craigslist

Haappy-

Thanks for the link!

I copied the photos and put them in my album just for the records. Sometimes pictures of these rare C-Dorys are hard to come by on a "Search".

Asking $39K? Of course, it probably has 2 cycle engines, but..........

If I were in the market, I might just look into what it would cost to ship something like this boat back down to the lower 48!

Have you ever seen the one and only Pilothouse 27 "Alvig"?

Hey Joe,

I think this is the same picture that was used about 4 yrs ago. The guy that purchased the boat posted about a trip to Alaska. I think it is an I/O and he had to get the inboard rebuilt or replaced when he started the trip.

Don't remember the names but I remember that picture.

Steve and Pat-

I remember the story well.

In fact, I had arranged to go up and view and test drive the boat when it first came on the market for $32,000 in Oak Harbor, but decided it was too big a boat for my lake use.

Sorry I didn't look up the spelling, but if one pursued all the photos I linked, read the captions, and and looked up the owner's profile and so forth, the entire story is there.

The name is a Native American term, but I've forgotten the meaning, spelling, and the story that goes along with the name selection.

Thanks for the refresher/reminder note!

For those who don't know, Jim, Aivig's owner, is a U.S. Government employee in Tunisia, Africa, and comes home to the U.S. with his wife and children to enjoy the boat.

For those interested in the facinating story of their Inside Passage Journey, here it is:

Some say the above link doesn't work, and I can't edit it after 30 minutes, so try the following: (It's missing the "h" in the "http" part.)

Well, Joe, the link I posted three messages above ("one of the funniest stories in all C-Dorydom") does work, I wasn't going to point out that the link was already there...

Pat-

Sorry I missed the link in my hurriedness!

Will have to learn to slow down and read things more carefully!

The tendency is to react and post quickly, having gone over most of these topics 3-10 times or more!

Maybe I need a vacation?

See ya' in Seattle at the SBGT and SBS!

Joe, Looking forward to seeing you at the SBS.

This is a cool thread. I went back and read the whole Alaska story. What a trip, and what a writer. Very Interesting boat. Thanks for putting up the photos.

I'm a newcomer to the forum (and boatless).

That link was priceless reading for me...very absorbing.
And I knew not of the 27s...actually thought the boat was an aftermarket conversion.

I can't help it I still like the look of that 27 Pilothouse. Like the forward raked windows, and the forward bulkiness I guess.

Me too. A number of us have said that if C-Dory wanted to introduce a larger boat, bringing this model back would have made a lot more sense than that ugly Venture 29. I'd definitely consider a 27 pilot house.

Me, I wish C-Dory would work out a deal with Blackfeather in Juneau to make the 30' ChillKat part of the C-Dory line.

On another subject, since I am sure the factory guys are listening in, on my recent trailering trip from WA to UT I had a lot of people ask about the Tom Cat. Most of them did not understand that it was made by C-Dory and not by the Tom Cat Company. I'd like to put the C-Dory logo on both sides, like on the monohulls, and suggest that new boats have the C-Dory logo as well. If someone from the factory is reading this, please PM about getting those logos for my boat.
