A sad note to start this weekend. I read that Paul Newman passed away.

One of my favorite actors, and a great American.

Greatman, great actor. He gave back more than he took. God Bless him, and his family.

That is indeed sad -- and surprising. Either he had a medical condition he did not disclose or it was unexpected. I am sure details will be forthcoming, but I echo your sentiments. A class act all the way.

spokeswoman told The Associated Press. Mr. Newman, whose
career spanned five decades, was also a prominent social
activist, a major proponent of actors' creative rights and a
noted philanthropist. He was nominated for Academy Awards 10
times, and won a best actor Oscar in 1987 for "The Color of
Money."

Too bad.

He was such a decent role model and giving person, besides being a great actor.

I thought it was fairly common knowledge that he'd been fighting cancer for the past couple of years or so.
