Hi Folks
Here is what I came up with for boat backup and car navigation. Navionics is a $9.99 appfor the phone for Maine to upper Bahamas. Works great. Fished last week on NC coast - the Chartplotter died on my friends boat and the guide couldn't figure out how to enter coordinates ! Spun the little wheels and we were on the way. Motor flaked out at 2 mi on a 20 mi trip - wew were lucky and limped back to port. The I phone functions well with all sorts of extras.
Found a BIG Screen Nav (7" diag) Magellan Roadmate 1470 - had some bad press but seems pretty neat to me plus it is easy to read and program. $240 from Amazon but new ones are on E-bay for $189 - should have checked first!! If I knew how to post pics I'd put up some fish pictures
