Congrats to Chivita Dave!

Yesterday, I saw a post from one of our long time C-Brats...but it wasn't his content that caught my eye. It was the location in his profile.

Many of you know Chivita - a.k.a. Dave Malone. Early on in our C-Brat history, he managed a hotel in Renton and took care of us at Seattle Boat Show time. I was quite bummed when he left that position, but happy for him as he took a job managing a hotel in the paradise that is Sitka, AK. I took advantage of his good fortune by having him arrange two phenomenal fishing expeditions for me and my family up there.

After swapping a couple PM's with him in the last couple of days, it seems he's landed yet another dream job - and one we should take advantage of! As of December, Dave is now the Port Manager at the Port of Kingston! He seems eager to have an invasion of C-Brats at his new digs (perhaps his memory is fading), and everyone who knows Dave understands we'd receive nothing but the finest of accommodations and care.

For those of you hitting up the SBS for our upcoming gathering - Dave told me he'll be in the Port of Kingston booth on aisle 800 on Saturday. Drop in and shout the howdy...he's a great asset, and an even greater guy.

Welcome back, Dave!

How cool is that?!? I was thinking about Dave just yesterday remembering his gracious kindness at our first SBS gathering.

Congratulations, Dave! And yeah, I think a CBGT at your facility is a great idea.

We like the port of Kingston. Nice place in the sound to stay the weekend and fish near by. Should we talk about a gathering there instead of La Conner this year?? Nice park at the top of the ramp. Ferry within walking distance and a cute shopping area with ice cream.

Congratulations on the new gig indeed Dave!

The Port of Kingston is, in our opinion, one of the nicest marinas in the area. Small enough that is is not overwhelming like some others, real well kept and clean, and the people working there have always been extremely friendly and helpful.

The town and some descent restaurants real close by and good shopping just up the road at the Safeway and other markets plus the Port of Kingston has a small electric Golf Cart like vehicle they will let you borrow to get there which is great if you are buying some relatively heavy groceries (water, soft drinks, and of course other NON-alcoholic beverages!).

Take care,
Dan. Tanya, and Hannah on C-Renity

Stacy and I took C-Change over to Kingston for lunch this weekend during the nice weather and took some time to practice a few dockings while we were there. As we were finishing up, Dave came over and introduced himself and let us know he has a 22 named Chivita. I guess our docking prowess was not evident since the staff was looking at the boat and thinking something was wrong....or wondering if we could not make up our mind on what slip we wanted :). Dave figured we were practicing but came down to check and say Hi....seems like a very nice guy.

Kingston is really a great marina and the town has a few good places to eat :)..... Hmmm.... I am with Tom on this one....maybe a good place for a CBGT....

Thanks everyone! I enjoyed SE Alaska and had a number of adventures you just cannot get anywhere else. During my time on the Sitka Port Commission, I came to realize what a great job it would be to actually work at a Port so when the opportunity came to join the great team in Kingston I bolted back down to Washington.

Still can't believe how fortunate I am.

As to C-Brat gatherings, all are welcome. The end of July is pretty open and we'll have both the Saturday Farmer's Market and the Rotary Club's Saturday beer tent up and running. As the crew of C-Change mentioned, the team here care a great deal for this place and it's visitors so feel free to invade and practice mooring skills.

Dave

Absolutely! We'd come to Kingston for sure.
