Condensation

I have seen several references made to condensation in various posts. I am curious as to how much, where, have you found it to be a problem for you and what type of fix did you use?

Jeff and Julie,

Most condensation happens on the interior side of hull and cabin surfaces while out cruising around or docked up. Not much different than that found on the windows at home on a chilly morning. My solution was to use hull liner/head liner which I applied to the surfaces up in the V-birth area. I posted details and photos in the library section for "Cabin & Interior".

That project work so well that I am now doing the ceiling of the main house and have moved wiring, shelf, and rails screws out of the way to get started. I'll be taking some pics and will try to keep folks posted as I proceed. Can't wait to have two warm dry cabins.

Our boats are just like any other two sided object with one warm side, and one cold side... The warmest side will have the moister, just like the outside of a beer bottle... So, to keep it to a minimum particuarly when it is real cold outside, I just have to leave a couple of windows slightly open a bit, and I have found that keeping a fan blowing all the time really helps too. Very interesting on the liner...but my worry would be for mold/mildew in the fabrics... Thought I smelled gas in my forward bunk before and it turned out to be mildew smell coming from the fabric on the bunk pads... Will be interesting to see what others have to allow on this.. I stuck a solar vent in the roof and crafted up some visors for the side windows. The visors where easy to make and allow the side windows to be open about an inch without rain or spray getting in. here's a pic, the crumy two sided sticky tape has since yellowed so is being upgraded. http://www.c-brats.com/modules.php?set_ ... _photo.php

Thanks for the replies. Seems to be nothing more than normal amounts of condensation and I like the idea of using the marine carpet on the Vberth.

J+J, At the Portland Boat Show I learned of a product http://www.videcomp.com/reflectech/astrofoil.html . I was told to apply it with 3-M spray adhesive and then cover it with "Rat-Fur". It can be found here http://www.hamiltonjet.com/. It is a slight variation on Tim's approach.
