colored anti-skid deck

I've noticed in a lot of photo's that many c-dory's have an accent color to their anti-skid (diamond pattern in gelcoat) surface. Mine doesn't have any color just gelcoat color. Also the surface seems a little porous and absorbs dirt. Did the factory quite coloring them?

flapabreaker-

The non-skid on the topside decks is not real soft and rubbery, just somewhat softer and with the diamond pattern finish to increase adhesion. The fact that your boat has different absorbtion properties in the diamond patterened areas indicates that there is non-skid there.

Why is it the same color as the hull?

Your boat has a medium grey accent stripe. Since the grey is neutral (not red, green, yellow, blue, etc), the non-skid has to be neutral as well, as a real color would not fit with the grey. Thus your non-skid has to be either a lighter grey or the hull color to be a good, workable, and compatible color with the basic off white hull color and grey trim. This is according to standard art and interior/exterior design color theory.

I'm guessing that the factory has tried the different combinations possible over the years, and made yours with the non-skid the same as the basic hull color. If you think about it for awhile, you will probably come to the conclusion that they made the best choice possible.

My $0.02 guess!

Joe.

The factory can and will furnish the white non-skid (same color as the gelcoat) if it is ordered that way. Normally they will have a non-skid color which complements the accent color (not the same color as the accent). For example I have the Cabernet accent which would normally come with the light grey non-skid. I preferred to have the white non-skid, like the gel coat and they furnished it. Several other C-Dory owners have done the same and probably some of the dealers.

Pretty darn accomodating, them factory guys!

Enjoy!

The "factory standard" color is white.

There is an option to color the non skid with either gray or tan.

It's available on any color boat...

My dealer ordered the Moca/Wheat color scheme carried over onto the non skid as well, so I think one can order most anything.
