upcoming project. Raised wood slat floor or? for the water to slosh around under and not get my feet wet.

Anybody who did this project have pics? teak slat tiles?
thanks :D

I used rubber tiles, very happy with the result. Nice and warm under bare feet as well. Pics in my album under Mods.

Martin.

I tackled this same project a few years ago, just couldn't stand the low deck and water in the bottom. Check out this link to CAVU's boat. I did pretty much what he did.

Much more comfortable to work on a flat deck. Mine is just under the level of the cabin door bottom.

Good Luck!

Uh, how did that deck turn out? Any pictures?

that looks pretty sharp. I think using the smaller tiles like you did makes it look even better.

No pictures of the finished project, but I did exactly like CAVU did.
I layed a staight board across cockpit floor from port to starboard and took 4 measurements from the bottom of the board to the floor and this established the curvature of the floor and thus the ribs for each half of the floorboard.

I built mine out of 1 inch thick cedar for the ribs and over built using 3/4 inch exterior grade plywood for the deck. I coated with a rubber deck coating, which has a little non skid in it.

Each half weighs about 30 pounds. If you look closely at some of CAVU pics you will see the flat deck just under the level of the cabin door.

Looks like NOMAD has the factory floor or floorboards with the rubber tiles on top.

Thanks Martin and Patrick,

I like the floor on Cavu. This gets more water off the hull bottom. The only thing is do the ribs trap water from draining back? I guess one could cut channels for free drainage.

One of the things is my door sill may be lower than Cavu and Kim Christine. I like the idea of painting on a non slip membrane.

Yes, I cut out drainage on the front and back ribs using a hole saw.

Right now West marine has "Dry Deck" on sale, I think 20% off. I like mine, Feet can stay dry, not slippery, and I can see if there is water on the sole.
