central/north Puget Sound c-brats

Hi from a newbie!
I have finally picked up my new 22' cruiser and it is living at the Everett Marina. If anyone has the time, I am hoping to find a C-brat or two to come along on the boat and help me learn how to use it.

I rode on the Sea Shift with Dave for the Snohomish trip which was a great introduction, but I am a total newbie to motorized boating.

(My sea kayaking is not enough of a background for motorized travel, and the electronics are also new to me, except for the marine radio and channel 16.)

I'm generally free Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. If anyone has the inclination and time, I'll be happy to buy lunch!

Thanks,
BaseCampAnne

call me and susan at 1-425-220-6567 and we will work something out. If I can teach susan with out a divorce I can teach you. I live in marysville and work in everett so its easy for us to come down. Even a hour at the dock is worth it after work.

I'd be happy to help, there's always more to know so we can both learn together. I work part-time and my schedule is flexible so PM me a day or two in advance and I can come down from Whidbey.

I am very impressed with the generosity of the people on this site. I am starting to like my new C-dory even more.

Congratulations Anne on your new vessel. Sounds as if there are quite a few C-Brats willing to assist. As far as I'm concerned, every trip out for me is a learning experience. If something works out in my schedule, I too am willing to join you.

(Are you keeping Sea Coaster in dry storage in Everett or did you obtain a slip?)

Anne - congrats for sure! I'm sure you will do just fine, especially with the help offered. I suggest though that you sign up for a Power Squadron or Coast Guard Auxillary basic boating course - it will REALLY help you get off on the right foot, basic operation of the boat is a piece of cake, doing it safely and properly, well, that takes a bit more...

After reading C-Brats Online for a week or so on the advice of a long time family friend, I could tell that this was a group I definitely wanted to join, so purchased the first C-Dory sold by Master Marine (without doing my usual due diligence.) It is all working out, and now I have new friends offering to help me learn how to operate and enjoy this beautiful boat and community!!

I had originally planned to keep my boat on Lake WA but anecdotally noticed that most trips the next 6 months are on the salt water north of Seattle so I decided to go to Everett where the moorage is more reasonably priced. Then I learned that dry storage is available for $250. per month, with the boat kept indoors, fans running, etc. Sea Coaster will be dropped in the water and tied up at the dock as often as wanted each month with 30 minutes notice. Upon returning the boat will be lifted from the water, given a fresh water rinse and stored. Wow, that seems like a great deal for the boat and for me, a beginning power boater!

Thanks to each and all who have volunteered to help me learn how to pilot Sea Coaster! I am so delighted with this community and look forward to meeting and greeting more and more members!

Congratulations on the new boat, and on joining a really great group of Brats. I wanted to second Pat's suggestion about taking a Power Squadron or Coast Guard Aux course. Knowing how to "drive the boat" is only a fraction of what you need to be out on the water safely. The time and cost are minimal compared to the increased enjoyment you will have in knowing what to do and where you are supposed to go and when, in order to to stay out of trouble and best of all, return home safe and sound. Best wishes and hope to cross wakes sometime soon.

BTW, I have boat storage envy

Anne, is that the same facility where they store your car up on the rack in the place formerly occupied by your boat while you are out cruising?

Anne,
Welcome.
Here's a link to the Everett Sail and Power Squadron
PJ and I took the Basic Boating course at the Santa Barbara Power Squadron here in California--- great course. Although I had experience with boating, we took the course for PJ and we both learned a lot.

Enjoy your boat :thup
