Canada Gathering

I'm on a buoy at Newcastle Island tonight, Brock is at the dock, after both leaving Bellingham at 10 AM. And another C-Brat from Sequim on the buoy next to me, heading home from Desolation. Tomorrow supposed to be calm so Brock and I may attempt a push all the way to Blind Channel if conditions are favorable. We were just thinking, this park here at Newcastle would be neat for a gathering, maybe late season after kids are back in school. We'll be out here all week so PM me if you're in the area and want to join us along the way!

Just to clarify, we were thinking maybe Sept 2020... cruising this week so won't be able to do it again so soon unfortunately. Also, Brock and I decided to stay south of Nanaimo and not continue north, wind reports from other friends coming back from Desolation this morning were not favorable. So we might still see some other Brats in the Gulf Islands this week if you're out here! Another night at Newcastle Island tonight, then Ladysmith tomorrow, then ?

Roger and Cheryl will be on the water by this weekend, launching the 22nd at Anacortes with no definite plans but the great people in Canada will get a visit for sure. Also a bunch of favorite stops. Friday harbor, Stuart island, Wallace Island, Ganges. Hope to see some Brats along the way!

Roger,

I saw the Jesse James parking spot is empty. He beat you to the Salish Sea. I just returned from a week in Winter Harbor fishing with Peter J

I just got back from a few days at Newcastle Island, and it is a great place. Reasonable dock fee, good showers and just across the water from the best fish and chips I have found anywhere. (that would be Trollers -- but you have to bring your own ginger beer

There are some great places along the Gulf Islands side; Conover Cove, Thetis Island, Chemanius, Gabriolla Isalnd. All great. I'm in as long as it is not too late in the season.

Harvey, I'm really glad to hear you've been cruising around the Gulf Islands and spent time at Newcastle. That island is absolutely stupendous. It has everything, including not too many people after Labor Day. The trails and beaches are marvelous. Mike and I kayaked across the channel for ice, but the small, commuter vessel is a little easier.

As Mike suggested when we were there last month, I agree a 2020 C-Brat rendezvous after Labor Day would be a big bunch o' fun. Last Nanaimo gathering: 2009.

The docks were full and most of the buoys first weekend after Labor Day this year. Mandy were for George Hones (KerriOn), wedding. And, the best Fish and Chips are right across there too, dock next to the fuel dock. Trollers, under the red roof. Gotta love good F&C.
