I think the link is to the NPR radio show "This American Life," with Ira Glass. The back story is that a cruising family (long-distance sailboat cruising) had a series of issues mid-Pacific, which resulted in them setting off their EPIRB and being rescued, thereby having to scuttle their boat (home).
For some reason (probably the fact of two small children aboard) this particular case caught the attention of "mainstream" people and thus was hotly debated in non-boating social and other media, with many people "coming down on" these "reckless" people for endangering their children. Not that there is not room for that point of view, but many of the people (who were posting vitriolic and hateful condemnations) didn't necessarily fully understand the cruising lifestyle (and of course did not factor in things like taking their own children down busy Interstate highways every day, because of course that's not dangerous, that's normal!).
Back to the radio show: They will have a theme to each show and then explore several instances relating to it. The them for this show was "Call for help."
I haven't specifically clicked on the link, but this should give you something to go on.
Edited to add: Okay, I did go to the above link. It leads to a podcast of the show which did start loading right away on my computer (not malicious, but I agree it's nice to know). Here is a link to a web page for the show, that is simply "a page," if you want to take a look:
