I have a '08 CD-22. I am considering modifications to the interior. I was wondering what is the composition of the cabinets and counter tops of the OEM material before I try to cut it. It looks like it might be laminate over wood (maybe particle board). It could be some sort of solid plastic material, but this can be kind of heavy and expensive (i.e. Starboard).

Can anybody tell me what the stuff is?

My 07 is all laminate over particle board.
 
On the earlier boats (my 22 for example) it was a product called Decraguard. HERE is one link to the material. It's NOT particleboard which would not stand up to the damp but plywood. The marine Decraguard is "probably" a marine variety of plywood. You can buy it in 4X8 sheets or smaller probably.

My TomCats have a similar material in the cabinets. Not sure what the factory calls it but it looks/behaves the same to me. I cut the middle support out of the sink Cabinet on Thataway to gain access and that's what it looked like..

I thought that by 2008 the 22's all had the molded interior, but I guess maybe not? Just in case though:

1) The molded fiberglass interior has rounded edges and is gelcoated fiberglass, like an inside-out molded shower stall. I think it will be "tabbed" into the hull (so no metal fasteners).

2) The wooden interior (Decraguard) is made of flat sheets, and has squared-off edges. On the inside, the cabinets are held together with metal angle brackets and screws. (Although even on a wooden interior, the v-berth flat is molded fiberglass, as is the "dashboard,", so you could compare the look.) As mentioned above, the Decraguard is basically a plywood substrate with a thin covering bonded to the outer skins (thinner and more like Melamine than laminate, to my eye).

I think from photos that in the molded interior the galley countertop is also molded, but the white cabinet doors are some sort of wood. Maybe Decraguard?

I stand corrected. I DO believe my 07 is laminate over plywood not particle board.
 
Sunbeam, I do believe the factory can build them either way now, molded interior or the older style. Many prefer the latter b/c of the ability to remove and remodel or change. The former may be easier to clean however.

Not sure if there's a price difference or even that I'm right. (as is usually the case!:oops: )
