Cabinet Knob Source Help!!!

Hope someone can help me.

I had a cabinet knob come apart and I need to replace it. I've walked the aisles of Lowe's, Home Depot and a local hardware store and still haven't come close. I'd like to have one that matches all the others on the boat as close as possible. Anyone know where to find these? I'm assuming they were standard on our C-Dories in this time period.

THANKS!

JohnS-

I'm no TomCat 24 expert, but that looks like a hardware store item to me, and not a factory original.

We'll have to hear from some TC-24 owners to be sure, though!

Did the original come apart in multiple fragments (totaled) or just have the threaded shaft pull out (repairable) ?

I don't know, so maybe I shouldn't be replying -- but a mystery/hunt is always hard to resist!

The knob you show looks the same as ones I've seen on the late 90's/early 2000's 22 Cruisers. I think that through around 2004 the cabinet doors were flush (vs. overlaid) and had those knobs.

Without the dimensions on hand, I found some similar ones by searching "wood mushroom knob." Here is one example:

If you don't end up finding the exact same ones, perhaps you could replace all of them so they still match (not sure how many are on a Tomcat, but I think there are only around three on a 22).

I would be checking (like you have) too. After all, most things like that are sourced from common stock somewhere vs. custom made. If only one can find the magic part number :D

Wow, nice to wake up to so many replies!

My knobs are ceramic and look almost identical to the photos of the Canadian knobs that were posted. (Although not sure of the size)

My threaded insert came out of my knob. I epoxied it back into the knob, but shortly after the expoxy actually gave and the threaded portion came out again.

I'm about 3000 miles from the boat for another week and would like to order a replacement. Anyone available to take measurements of their knob that looks like mine so that I get the right size?

Thanks again for all the help. I'm thinking this was probably a pretty standard knob anywhere around the year 2000 for all C-dories and not just the TC.

Thanks again!!

My 26' CD had those knobs on the cabinet doors. Too slippery with wet hands. Took all of mine off and replaced then with "U" shaped ones in satin stainless finish.
I have all of my old ones somewhere in my shed. You can have them if I can find them.
We are only about 50 miles apart up here in the great land.

I had the same knobs....and didn't like them so I removed them and installed teak finger pulls...much nicer like the later boats came with..

If you don't mind waiting...I will be home after December and will give my two old knobs to you for free... but I would think some good hardware store should have those...they are nothing special..

As a side note:

Some knobs tend to catch or hook on the pockets of cargo style pants and shorts, so I like drawer pulls that can't catch me as I walk by!

Full loop handles with two attachment points work better in this regard than knobs.

YMMV!
