Had a call the other day from Jeff and Cathy Brigner on C-Pearl, loving life in the Apalachicola Bay/Gulf waters with Foggy Dew/ Rick & Donna...AKA, Alaska Transplants...

Rumor has it Brig has not found any "stiiiiiiickers"....but did land his 1st saltwater fish on C-Pearl...

Do tell.

Well here it is......................THE FISH!
Jeff can have the honors of telling the fish story.........but we of course will deny any wrong doing and blame it on Marc Grove. That is our story and we are sticking to it.
We had a blast and thanks Marc for the use of the slip.....

quick....throw it out the window.....it's the cops......
As soon as I radioed Rick and told him we had a fish on here come the fuzz to check for our license. Yes, it is illegal to keep a grouper in federal waters. Yes, Rick thought because we were 12 miles out from the cut into the gulf we were in federal waters. Yes, Rick did say I had to toss it back. Fact is, even though we were 12 miles out the cut, we were still within 9 miles of the coast of Florida. :? The officer "said nice fish, 23 incher, it was a keeper, show me your fishing license and pfds". I was later told by the guys at Wefings that the red grouper stink. It's the black grouper you want to keep. So, if it makes you feel better Rick, it's a good thing we tossed it back. :o
CAVU... I was actually trying to get the thing off the hook and was beating the crap out of the fish. You can tell by the puzzled look on Cathy's face I was calling the fish that just tore up my new jig a few names.

No, it doesn't make me feel any better...it was a nice fish. Ok, I guess I do feel a bit better. It WAS pretty durn funny though.

About as funny as getting stopped in Union Town  rickspeeding.thumb.jpgRick speeding on the water :smiled

yeah, yeah, yeah...ok, everyone...the reason Jeff is calling me "speeder"...I got my first speeding ticket in 26 years of driving last week. I don't think I'm going to hear the end of it for a long time!

We sure had fun speeding around in the Gulf, though. 8)

Thanks for the nice pics of the Dew!

Ill bet if you had offered that stinkin red grouper to my guys they would have gladly accepted it ! The gags are a little better , but the reds are good ! Nice fish Jeff ! We will go catch more . That sea condition looks like a textbook day on the Gulf ! A couple good days out there and you just might get hooked !

Hey Marc,
It was a great day! The water was flat, the sun was shinning, the company was great and the fish made the scene. We really enjoyed the use of that slip. A big thank you from Cathy & I ! We are already hooked. I'm ready when you are to go catch more. :D .
Thanks again,
JB

Speeding tickets ...... illegal fish....... Man... I guess I let you two out without my "adult supervision" .....and see what happened.

I sure wish I could have made the trip...and can not wait to hear the rest of the story during our Cumberland River cruise end of Apr07.

Back from the west coast...See yall soon...
