C-Minor's Farewell Cruise

We Bought "C-Minor," a beautifully kept 2004 CD22 Cruiser from Skipper Jerry D, a fine skipper and a real gentleman.
C-Minor was delivered to us yesterday at Norwalk Harbor, Long Island Sound, Connecticut. We fueled her up and gave he a good taste of salt water on what we consider to be a day usually not fit for small boating. We had a challenging four foot chop, a stiff east wind, and banged around a bit, but never were we worried. Its a sweet little boat, no doubt.

Anyway, C-Minor now has a new home, along with new numbers and new letters. Name will be announced at the appropriate time.

C-Minor was a good ship with a fine skipper, and The Admiral and I will do our best to keep in that tradidtion.

I feel that credit must be given where credit is due, so I would be remiss not to mention Charles and Kyle Ulrick, from the Philadelphia PA area. Charles did my survey and Kyle towed C-Minor up here. Both these guys are honest and competent straight shooters, and anything boat related in that part of the world; if they cant get it done they can certainly point to someone who can. I would do business with these guys anytime. Same goes for Skipper Jerry D.

well, welcome to the world of C-Dory owners. You've met some of the fine people, and that's just the beginning. So it doesn't look like a farewell cruise to me, just the start.

Enjoy your boat, you're in a fine place to do that, and if you want to go to warmer climes, just tow it. there's C-brats wherever you go.

And, besides, it's a fine boat.

Yes! Now the fun begins..we are on the hard, ready to get shined up, and have a bit of personalizing done..spring gave us a teaser last week, but winter is having a last gasp..we got the fever, fo sho!

OK..1st problem. Our first mate, Jackson, is a 150lb Newfoundland Dog. In my last boat, a 17ft Yankee (Bristol) Skiff, If Lewis, (my last Newfy) was in the water I could have him swim alongside, I could grab two big handfuls of newfy, and haul/roll him over the gunwale and back on board (along with about 6 gallons of sea water). This will be an impossible task with the deeper CD. Granted, in all likelihood, Jackson will load/unload from a dock or a beach..no trouble. How, oh how, would I get him back on board in the unlikely emergency situation where he is in the water and no dock or beach nearby? Newfys are big and powerful, amazing swimmers, but they are not winning any agility contests...they are a bit clumsy, so, the swim platform will be quite a trick. I have looked at doggie boat ramps, but I don't think I want to carry a big awkward piece of equipment around all the time.

Alan, do a search on garhauer davit. There are pictures in some albums if you hunt a little

One of those affixed to the cockpit in a convenient location would do the trick. Ours will lift ~200+. It's there to lift heavy stuff from the dock or a person from the water with a lifesling.

If you had some sort of lifting jacket on the puppy ( :dog :love  ), you could clip the hoist to an eye on the back of it and swing him up and over the side. That davit will come out of it's mounting and could be stowed when not needed.
