C-Dory Warranty now null and void

Matt G.

I was not trying to offend anybody with my remarks, merely trying to point out that not all businessmen are paragons of virtue. I have absolutely no knowledge of seasport or their business. By all accounts they make excellent boats and I'm sure they will continue to do so. They may even be paragons of virtue. I just don't know, and neither do I know that they are not.

I prefer to base my opinions on what is known for a fact: that seasport bought Fluid's hardware (and thereby the C-Dory brand) and that they are on record as saying that existing hull warranties will not be honored. I and many others believe that this was not a great decision. It is controversial and that is why there is so much discussion about it. I completely disagree that our discussion weakens the brand. On the contrary, the fact that we are able to get the facts out (meager as they are) and have a place to discuss them *strengthens* the brand imo.

We own great boats - about that there is universal agreement. We have this superb website (thanks, Bill and Da Nag) to discuss anything and everything to do with them, and hordes of intelligent and informed posters. When we decide to stop posting for fear that it devalues the market for our boats is when the site and hence the brand will suffer.

I am as sorry as everyone else about the state of the boat market. I am also looking forward to the day when seasport turns out their first new C-Dory design. Then we can have another endless discussion about whether it is true to the C-Dory tradition and brand.

With best regards, Roy
